Once again, we will not have our normal meeting place. Dymon is still putting the final touches on the boardrooms and we will probably be in a donut shop for the March meeting. On the plus side, I won’t run out of things to drink, but I am getting a little tired of the lack of ability to have a proper talk. I don’t mind the fact that they are not finished yet, but rather the “soon” I keep hearing. I’d prefer they had stated it won’t be ready for 6 months or something like that so I could have made proper plans for a meeting rather than this monthly waiting game.
Since I’m talking about meetings, we are taking a slight diversion down memory lane this month and we will be discussing some retro-computing. Particularly the venerable Altair 8800 and some of the things you could do with it. I’ve been feeling a little nostalgic after playing with the Arduino units and discovered that you can run an Altair emulator on one, complete with a serial terminal if you feel so inclined.
It will be a fun discussion and we may even be able to do some basic emulation in a VM if you have a laptop with you. I will have instructions for those who want to give it a try.
