October: September revisit

Given we had such a small turnout at the last meeting, I’m going to reuse the topics.

As mentioned for last month, we are now a LOPSA local, so anyone showing up this month gets a few LOPSA stickers, compliments of LOPSA and Matt Simmons. I haven’t had a chance to get started on the re-branding of the site yet, but that will be completed before the November meeting, so I can start year 15 with a new look. In celebration, I’ll buy the coffee and snacks for the meeting.

The annual social will be at the Mill St. Brew Pub again. I have asked for a better seating arrangement for this year. High bar stools at a small table are not quite what I have in mind this time around. This is tentatively scheduled for Dec 19, 2013

Items/Talking Points for the October Meeting:

• Raspberry Pi as a PBX. I did a talk at OCLUG about this and a few people found it interesting enough to ask for the slides. I’ll publish them on this site as well after our meeting.
• Alternative VOIP providers - you would be surprised at what you can get.
• Somewhat intersting news for the future of publishing. I’ll talk about a recent post O’Reilly had on document production.
• Live example of creating an epub or other documentation using pandoc
• Anyone played with a Beagle Bone Black? I’ll bring one with me to look at.

Of course, any and all other topics are also valid, bring questions/problems/solutions.
